A PATH OF SERVICE, ASHRAM LIVING
& DAILY LIFE AT THE KRISHNA TEMPLE
KARMA YOGA
AT YOGA DHAM ASHRAM
At the ashram on Thawa Hill, you can experience life in a traditional Indian family, help at the temple and ashram, participate in pujas, and practice yoga every day.

This experience brings a gentle yet profound transformation — helping you let go of what is unnecessary and rediscover simplicity, peace, and gratitude.
Karma Yoga is a path of purifying the heart through action.
Karma Yoga is selfless service — action performed without expectation of reward.

It is one of the four classical paths of yoga — Jnana, Bhakti, Raja, and Karma Yoga.
At our ashram, Karma Yoga means taking care of the temple, the ashram, our guests, and the surrounding nature.
✔ helping in the kitchen
✔ cleaning the temple
✔ preparing flowers for puja
✔ helping to organize the space
✔ helping in the garden
✔ simple everyday tasks
✔ helping care for our guests
✔ caring for the cows

What Is Karma Yoga?
Karma Yoga is not simply “work” —
it is an inner attitude:
“I serve because I wish to purify my heart and to give.”
The Vedic scriptures emphasize the importance of selfless action:
What the Shastras Say About Selfless Service
BHAGAVAD GITA 3.19
Therefore, perform your duty without attachment. By acting without attachment, one attains the highest.
BHAGAVAD GITA 3.30
Dedicate all your actions to God, free yourself from selfishness, and act without desire for personal gain.
SRIMAD BHAGAVATAM 1.5.32
Selfless service purifies the heart and allows us to see the Divine in every living being.
When we serve with a pure heart, the mind becomes gentler, life more peaceful, and the path ahead clearer.
