Veena Acharya — yoga teacher and guardian of a living Himalayan tradition.
She was born in the Himalayan village of Naggar into a Brahmin family traditionally serving at the ancient Krishna Temple. From early childhood, her life was deeply connected with spiritual discipline — daily temple service, the study of Sanskrit, mantras and ancient scriptures, as well as encounters with sannyasins, wandering monks who visited the region.
Following this spiritual path from childhood, Veena received her professional yoga education at the Bihar School of Yoga, one of India’s respected traditional yoga schools, under the guidance of Swami Niranjanananda Saraswati. In 2006, she also graduated from the Jain Vishva Bharati Institute in Rajasthan with a master’s degree in Science of Living — an approach dedicated to conscious, balanced and harmonious living.
Veena founded her own yoga school in the Himalayas, where yoga is taught not simply as a collection of techniques, but as a spiritual path of transformation. She leads international courses, retreats and online classes for students from different countries and cultures, while remaining rooted in the essence of yoga as a path toward unity, balance and inner freedom.
Veena on Yoga:
“Yoga means union. It is not an ancient forgotten myth, but the most precious heritage of the present and a necessity for the future. Yoga is the science of living a harmonious and happy life.”
Julia Migunova — spiritual organizer and co-founder of Yoga Dham Ashram, creating a bridge between Russian-speaking students and the living tradition of the Himalayan ashram.
Julia was born in St. Petersburg. Her path led her from a classical education and a successful career in project management to a deep immersion in spiritual life. Since 2007, she has lived in the Indian Himalayas with the Acharya family, where her life has become closely connected with service at the ancient Krishna Temple, spiritual practice, and learning the tradition from within.
Over the years, Julia has studied yoga, Vedic philosophy, Ayurveda, Vastu, and Jyotish (Vedic astrology), receiving knowledge from Indian teachers and masters. This experience has shaped her own path — bringing traditional wisdom into dialogue with contemporary life.
Together with Veena Acharya, she created the ashram space in Naggar — a place for retreat, practice, and inner transformation in the Himalayas.
Julia guides students as they discover India and yoga, helping them enter the tradition gently and naturally. Her approach combines:
— clear and accessible explanations,
— a mindful and caring approach to the body and individual needs,
— respect for each person’s unique path,
— a subtle sensitivity to the energy of practice.
She helps “translate” yoga from the language of philosophy and Sanskrit into the language of everyday life — work, family, relationships, and the challenges of the modern world.
Julia organizes retreats and yoga journeys, supports Veena during online classes in asana, pranayama, and meditation, leads sound practices, and works individually with students through personal consultations.
For many students, she becomes a trusted guide — someone who supports and accompanies them as they deepen their understanding of themselves, yoga, and India’s spiritual traditions.
